HYBRID FLOORING BASICS

HOW VINYL PLANKS ARE MADE

WHAT IS HYBRID FLOORING?

Hybrid is a combining the best attributes of both vinyl and laminate to create a rigid floating floor that can be installed throughout an entire home. Hybrid is made of multiple layers of materials compressed together for an extremely hard-wearing floor.

What is Hybrid flooring

WHAT ARE DIFFERENCES?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LUXURY VINYL FLOORING / TILE AND HYBRID FLOORING?

1. Plank Thickness

Hybrid flooring will usually be thicker than traditional LVT. Luxury vinyl flooring usually ranges from 2mm to 5mm, while a hybrid floor can be 5mm or more.

2. Subfloor

Both a traditional LVT and a hybrid can be installed over sheeting cement and existing floors, but a traditional vinyl will not be as forgiving with subfloor imperfections. If you have any indentions or protrusions, a traditional LVT will take on the shape. Due to the thickness and specialized core, a hybrid vinyl will not change shape and can mask small imperfections.

3. Dent Resistance

Traditional LVT floors are soft and pliable, which means very heavy furniture can possibly dent the material over long periods of time. A hybrid vinyl is dent resistant and a great option for commercial settings.

4. Price

Due to the engineering of hybrid flooring and beading or skirting required, it is a slightly more expensive option compared to LVT.
